Cosmetic Tattooing

What is Cosmetic Tattooing

Cosmetic Tattooing, also called 'Micropigmentation', is a popular well-tolerated cosmetic treatment involving the

controlled insertion of safe colour pigments into the dermis layer of the skin, instantly improving appearance, facial

definition and in most instances, a long lasting effect. Basically this is a cosmetic treatment that defines your eyes, brows, lips and cheeks with a soft, natural appearance that looks, and stays looking, like perfectly applied make-up or the most subtle of enhancements. All cosmetic tattooing will 'fade', or metabolise, to some degree

over time which is due to a number of individual factors.

Ombré Powder Brows

Ombré Powder Brows differs from traditional tattooing in that it is surface work meaning, the application is done on the epidermis layer of the skin. The technique is described by its name, with results being powdery with a faded front and a crisp tail, resembling the look of makeup. But ombre powder brows can be altered to be as soft, or as crisp as you desire

Ombre Powder Brow is suited for most to all skin types

Combo Brows

Combo Brows is a form of permanent makeup (cosmetic tattoo), where both the Microblading technique and Powder/shading are combined. ... Combo Brows allow us to create an illusion of eyebrows hairs at the beginning and through out the brow, and soft powder that resembles a natural makeup look.

Combination brows is only suited for certain skin types

Feather Touch Eyebrow Tattooing

Feather Touch eyebrow tattooing is a semi-permanent tattoo that fills in the eyebrow giving a darker, more shapely set of brows. The Colour is implanted into the skin using a specialised hand tool and needle, this method allows us to create hyper realistic hair strokes that mimic the natural hair. Feather Touch tattoo lasts anywhere from 12-24months. It isn’t suited to all skin types like oily skin. Brow and facial waxing involves the removal of unwanted hair from the eyebrow and facial areas using a warm wax. This process helps define and shape the eyebrows, as well as remove excess hair from the upper lip, chin, and other facial regions. The wax adheres to the hair, allowing for efficient removal, leaving the skin smooth. It's a quick and effective method to achieve a polished and groomed appearance.

Tattoo Correction / Cover Up - Brows Or Lips

Lip blushing is a semi-permanent tattoo that can enhance the colour and shape of your lips and give the impression of more fullness. This is done by depositing coloured pigments into your lips and along your lip line to improve the overall look. The color is subtle to give natural-looking results

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at tianakarastudio@outlook.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Numbing cream will be provided, but pre-appointment forms must be completed with name, email, and date of birth for the chemist to prepare personalized numbing cream . The creams will be labeled with your name, and I will send you a photo of the ones you need once your appointment is booked. Look for L1 (pre-numb) and L2 (during-numb).

If you have had previous brow tattooing, please send a photo or video before booking. In some cases, laser removal may be required before proceeding with new work.

To ensure the best results, please avoid the following 24 hours before your appointment:

  • Caffeinated drinks & alcohol (causes twitching and bleeding, which can push pigment out and lead to patchy healing).
  • Painkillers (for the same reasons as above).

  • Eat a big meal before your appointment to prevent blood sugar crashes.
  • Avoid sun exposure for at least one week prior.
  • No filler or Botox for 2-4 weeks before your tattooing.
  • No chemical peels or skin needling for 2-4 weeks before your session, as this increases skin sensitivity.

If you are getting lip blush, please see your doctor five days before your appointment to get antiviral medication. This will help prevent a cold sore outbreak before and after your procedure.

The initial appointment takes about 3 hours. During this time, we choose your brow color, map out the shape, and begin the tattooing process.

After 4-6 weeks, you will return for a perfection session to check how the pigment has healed. We will make any necessary tweaks, and aftercare is required again. This session takes 1 to 1.5 hours.

  • Immediately after: Your brows may feel swollen and tender. The color will appear darker or brighter and look thicker than expected.
  • Days 3-21: The swelling will subside, and your brows may feel dry and flaky. Let them shed naturally—do not pick at them. After scabbing, your brows may look lighter, but the pigment will resurface over time.
  • Days 42-64: This is your follow-up and touch-up appointment if needed.

  • First 3 hours: Gently wipe your brows to remove any fluids using a perfume-free baby wipe.
  • First 2 days: Keep your brows completely dry (no water or products).
  • Day 3-10: Apply healing gel morning and night for 7 days.
  • Healing time: It takes 10-14 days for scabs to fall off. Do not pick at them.
  • Final healed color: Appears after 4 weeks and can last up to 5 years.

🚫 No sun exposure or tanning
🚫 No getting brows wet
🚫 No makeup on brows
🚫 No skincare products or exfoliation near brows
🚫 No facials or massages for the first 3 weeks
🚫 No scratching or picking at scabs

Ombre Powder Brows use a surface-level shading technique that creates a soft, powdery look with a natural fade at the front and a crisp tail. The intensity can be adjusted based on your preference.

They typically last 1-3 years, but with good care, they can last up to 5 years or more. Longevity varies depending on skin type and lifestyle.

1. What should I do immediately after my lip procedure?

  • First 3 hours: Gently wipe your lips with a perfume-free baby wipe to remove any fluids.
  • First 2 days: Keep your lips completely dry—do not apply any products.

2. When can I start applying healing gel?

After 2 days, apply the healing gel provided morning and night for 7 days or until scabbing is gone.

3. How long does the healing process take?

  • 10-14 days: Scabbing should fall off naturally—do not pick at your lips.
  • 4 weeks: The final healed color will appear.

4. How long do lip tattoos last?

They can last up to 5 years or longer,

depending on individual factors like skin type and lifestyle.

5. What should I avoid after my procedure?

🚫 No sun exposure or tanning
🚫 Do not let your lips get wet
🚫 No makeup on lips
🚫 No face creams or exfoliants near lips
🚫 No facials or massages for 3 weeks
🚫 Do not scratch or pick at scabs
🚫 No kissing until lips are fully healed

1. What should I expect immediately after my microblading procedure?

  • You may feel slight tingling, tenderness, and swelling in the treated area.
  • Your eyebrows will appear very dark, but this is normal. The color will fade to a natural shade within 5-10 days.

2. How should I care for my eyebrows after the procedure?

  • DO NOT wet your brows or use any other products on the area for 5 days.
  • Only apply the provided tattoo ointment 5 times per day for up to 7 days to prevent infection and dryness.
  • Avoid soaps, cleaners, makeup, or creams other than the aftercare product.

3. When can I resume normal activities?

  • Avoid physical activity, swimming, saunas, or direct sunlight for at least 2 weeks to prevent premature fading.
  • If pain or tenderness lasts longer than a few days, consult your doctor.

4. Is swelling and bruising normal?

 Yes, some redness, sensitivity, and

mild bruising can occur, but it should subside within 1-2 days.

5. Why do my brows look patchy after a week?

  • The top layer will scab and shed off in about a week, making certain areas appear lighter.
  • The pigment will soften and settle naturally after 2 weeks.

The initial appointment takes about 3 hours. A follow-up perfection session is required after 4-6 weeks, lasting 1-1.5 hours.

The results can last 1-5 years, depending on factors like skin type, aftercare, and sun exposure. Some clients may need touch-ups if the color fades sooner.

  • First 1-2 days: Expect swelling and tenderness.
  • Days 3-21: Scabbing and peeling will occur. The color may appear too dark initially but will lighten over time.
  • Weeks 3-4: The final color will emerge, and the brows/lips may need a touch-up.

  • Gently wipe away any fluids after 3 hours with a perfume-free baby wipe.
  • Let the area dry heal for 2 days—no products or moisture.
  • From day 3 onward, apply the provided healing gel morning and night for 7 days.

Do:

  • Keep the area clean and dry.
  • Apply aftercare ointment as instructed.
  • Avoid physical activities that cause excessive sweating.

Don’t:

  • Get the brows/lips wet (no swimming, saunas, or heavy sweating).
  • Pick at scabs—this can cause uneven healing and pigment loss.
  • Apply makeup or skincare products (especially those containing Glycolic Acid, Retinol, or Vitamin A & C).
  • Expose to the sun—UV rays can fade the pigment.
  • Kiss (for lips) or rub/scratch (for brows) until fully healed.

This is completely normal. Freshly tattooed areas will look darker and bolder at first. The color will settle and soften after scabbing and healing.

A touch-up appointment is recommended after 4-6 weeks to perfect any faded areas. After that, touch-ups may be needed every 1-3 years depending on lifestyle and skin type.

  • Limit sun exposure and always apply sunscreen.
  • Avoid chlorinated pools and saltwater whenever possible.
  • Check skincare ingredients—exfoliants and bleaching agents can fade the tattoo.
  • Stay hydrated and maintain healthy skin.
