Tiana provides specialised lymphatic support for clients before and after surgery, with every treatment adapted to the procedure performed, stage of recovery, individual needs and the client’s surgeon’s post-operative instructions.
PRE-OPERATIVE CARE
Pre-operative lymphatic massage can be incorporated into a client’s preparation for surgery where appropriate.
Treatment can help support healthy lymphatic flow, address existing areas of fluid congestion and familiarise the client with the gentle lymphatic techniques that may form part of their recovery.
It also gives us the opportunity to establish a relationship before surgery and discuss their upcoming procedure and potential post-operative treatment plan so they feel prepared going into their recovery.
POST-OPERATIVE CARE
Following surgery, swelling and changes to normal lymphatic drainage can occur while the tissues heal.
Post-operative lymphatic treatment is very different from a traditional massage. It requires an understanding of the procedure performed, the areas affected and how the lymphatic pathways may have been impacted.
Treatment is gentle, precise and individually tailored according to the client’s procedure, stage of healing, comfort and surgeon’s instructions.
Depending on the procedure and stage of recovery, treatment may focus on:
- Supporting post-operative fluid movement
- Managing swelling and feelings of heaviness or tightness
- Supporting appropriate lymphatic drainage pathways
- Working safely around healing areas
- Supporting tissue mobility as healing progresses
- Addressing areas of firmness or tissue restriction where appropriate
- Supporting overall comfort throughout recovery
Post-operative lymphatic work is not deep or aggressive massage. Early treatments are intentionally gentle and treatment progresses appropriately as the body heals.
Clients enquiring about post-operative care should provide their type of surgery, surgery date and any instructions provided by their surgeon. Medical clearance may also be requested where appropriate.
